Perform Live
Prepare the source and the machine before the set, then evaluate changes into the same session.
Prepare the set
Section titled “Prepare the set”- Open the project in VSCode and connect to the intended server. Check its version and project.
- Check audio and MIDI destinations with Set Up This Machine.
- Evaluate the rig’s imports, tracks, instruments and effects. Open the mixer and console.
- Save the source and any plugin GUI state.
Make a change while playing
Section titled “Make a change while playing”For example, build this drum track and start it:
use "std/instruments" { Sampler, Kit };let drums = AudioTrack("drums");drums.set_instrument(Sampler(Kit("CR-78")));drums << [bd sd bd sd];PLAY;Select only the replacement line and evaluate it with Cmd+Enter (Ctrl+Enter on Windows/Linux):
drums << [bd [hh sd] bd sd];Listen for the replacement on the next cycle boundary. Keep the same track name when changing its material. Leave setup and destructive commands outside the selections you use for variations.
Hold, end and recover
Section titled “Hold, end and recover”Use F5 to pause and resume. Use Shift+F5 to stop and return to the start; delay and reverb tails
can finish. Three stops in a row cut lingering sound while keeping the rig.
If an evaluation fails, read the console, fix the statement and send the correction. Use
Debug a Session to inspect changes already applied.
RESET; discards the rig and variables: reserve it for rebuilding from saved source.
For a timed composition, use Arrange a Song from Sections. The transport model explains the recovery choices.
